Flirting With Leather

Until last year, I was not a fan of leather anywhere other than shoes, handbags or jackets - it just seemed to look really cheap and cheesy and something only male rock stars or 'ladies of the night' would wear.  But leather skirts, pants, shorts and all kinds of leather details are running rampant this season in more sophisticated and sassy shapes, so they look more chic than cheap.  I loved the flirty style of this leather skirt and wanted to make it bit more casual with just a t-shirt and scarf, but also wanted to play up the feminine side so tights and Mary Janes polished off the look.  And on a completely unrelated note, I think it has finally sunk in that summer is officially over (in November!) and that jackets are now very much a necessity instead of a nuisance.

  1. Gorgeous skirt! I bought one like this from H&M, but it didn't drape well like yours does so I had to send it back xoxo

  3. STUNNING! This whole ensemble is great but it wouldn't have just the right amount of "flair" without the leather skirt. Beautiful.

You will find so many reasons to wear that skirt. I wear mine all of the time.

  26. Are we twins? I was SO close to wearing my leather skirt today too but passed b/c I'm not sure I felt confident enough to wear this fabric during the day just yet due to the exact theory you described! I love this style! Mine is a bit more pencil skirt-y and not as fun but you have given me the inspiration to try again! I will not give up so easily this time leather!!! I will make you mine! lol :)

  28. Yeah, I know - I think I was scarred by too many cheesy 80's & 90's movies, or something, plus I grew up in the boonies where fashion just . . . isn't, so . . . . that might help explain things too!! Lol!
